“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
— Martin Luther King, Jr. (likely paraphrased)
My first post in a Medium publication just got accepted and published. Those who are paid Medium subscribers can see it here:
Retirement, Routines, and Urban Living
I chose the publication Crow’s Feet: Life As We Age because I felt many of the other writers were on similar journeys to mine and that readers of the other publication authors might appreciate my point-of-view. Recall, the reason I am exploring Medium is to hone my writing and to grow my audience. There are almost 20,000 followers to this publication.
Let’s see if my story resonates with the audience!
For this first post, I wrote about a familiar topic — weekly beers with friends! I advocate these kinds of routines for all retired people, and studies show these habits are good for our physical and emotional health! This past week in Portland was a bit different because we had a rare snow event, making it more challenging for everyone to get together. Still, those of us living in the city were able to rally, and we even had a chance encounter with a local standup comic while we were out. As such, this piece really focused on how the snow made even more apparent to me the advantages of city living in retirement!
